Hi, I am a documentary filmmaker in Hollywood, California. I’m doing a potentially Oscar-hot doc on daredevil legend Bob Gill --! ! I’m involved in a miracle, and I’d like you to be a part of it. I know you’re going to be very excited about the project that I’m doing.
! As you probably know, in 1973, daredevil legend Bob Gill jumped the entire fleet of Ryder trucks in a Super Bowl VIII spot seen by 140 million viewers. He was the first human being to take a bike over a canyon when he soared 152 feet over Cajun Canyon, in 1972. Featured in the Guinness Book of World Records, Gill set many world records, and was the first daredevil to set a night record when he took his Kawasaki over 22 cars at Seattle International Raceway. He was a golden boy, loved by the media, as well as his sponsors. Articulate and boyish, the US Navy, Kawasaki and Valvoline loved his being their spokesman because of his “Heart of America / Boy Next Door” image. ! In 1974, two weeks before Evel Knievel jumped Snake River, Gill crashed at Appalachia Lake, and has been paralyzed ever since. David Coombs was the promoter of that event, and a dear friend of Bobby’s. There is a procedure called Laser Puncture being done by Dr. Albert Bohbot in France that will help him walk again. Dr. Bohbot and his procedure have been featured in many Discovery Channel and BBC Network documentaries. ! Laser puncture involves redirecting the neurological impulses to alternate electrical pathways down the spine. The procedure itself takes time, and is followed by up to twenty four months of rehab. Dr. Bohbot has had success in over 500 of these miraculous procedures, with para- and quadriplegics who had far worse injuries than Bob Gill’s. There are 95 videos depicting their successes on their website ( www.LaserPoncture.com ). To view the site in English, click on the British flag at the bottom of the home page. ! Evel Knievel has generously offered world-wide promotion to the hospital in France in exchange for performing this procedure. Bobby will be meeting with Dr. Bohbot this year to begin a foundation to make miracles happen for Bobby and other victims of spinal chord injury. Knievel and Gill were each others’ competitors, and are dear friends who came up through the ranks together. They are, literally, the Godfathers of the sport. ! In 1976, Bob Gill drove a hand-controlled factory Kawasaki 900 motorcycle 8,000 miles across country – through hail, freezing rain and scalding heat-- to raise money for spinal chord injury. He hit thirty cities in thirty days, raising 1.2 million dollars – an impressive sum in ‘76. Sometime in the future, he plans to re-create that historical ride – the Bob Gill Freedom Ride, and will drive that same type bike from New York to Los Angeles – 30 cities in 30 days. Gill is a remarkable man. He has a real zest for life and an amazingly positive attitude. There is no challenge too great for this American hero. Many of the daredevils have told Gill that spinal chord injury is their greatest fear, and this gives them hope. ! Gill’s original bike, which is still operational, was a Kawasaki 900 4- cylinder with custom hand controls and a side-hack for his wheelchair.
We will be reaching out to re-design a new bike, based on the design of the original -- or to refurbish the original. ! There are a number of sports stars interested in getting on board this project. Daredevils Doug Danger and Lou “Rocket” Re. They are planning on performing dazzling motorcycle stunts in several of the thirty cities Bob Gill hits on his trip. Gill is their hero; these boys grew up watching Gill and Knievel, and are truly honored to be involved in this project. ! I’m directing a documentary called “SECOND CHANCE: A Miracle at Full Throttle.” This documentary is set in the world of motorcycle daredevils, past and present, and the heroic efforts being made by these men to help Bob Gill walk again. ! At the end of the documentary, when Bob Gill walks into the arms of his friends Doug Danger and Lou Rocket Re-- well, you’ll bust out crying! I will be submitting this documentary to Sundance via a producer who is making another of my movies. He’s been on the Sundance Lab board for 17 years. Getting to Sundance will give us an Oscar nod. ! I’m reaching out to a number of companies to sponsor this project, Air France, Virgin Airways and several of Bob Gill’s past sponsors. ! What I’m selling is a miracle. A chance to be a part of making a miracle happen. When was the last time you had that kind of day? :-D Best, Chantal Boccaccio Executive Producer "No Fly Zone Pictures" Hollywood, Ca.
Thank You!
